Kirro Chrome Extension — Privacy policy

Last updated: February 26, 2026

The Kirro Chrome Extension is an A/B test editor for Kirro customers. It lets you visually edit website elements (text, images, styles, layout) as part of creating A/B test variants from the Kirro dashboard.

When the extension activates

The extension only activates when you explicitly launch it from the Kirro dashboard by clicking "Open in Extension" on a test's editor page. It does not run, collect data, or modify pages at any other time.

Data collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, browsing history, or page content. No browsing data collected. The extension does not track which websites you visit or what you do on them. No personal information collected. The extension does not access your name, email, accounts, passwords, or any personal data. No page content collected. The extension does not read, copy, or transmit the content of any webpage. No cookies or tracking. The extension does not set cookies, use tracking pixels, or fingerprint your browser. No third-party analytics. The extension does not include Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any other analytics or error-reporting service.

What data is transmitted

When you use the editor, the following data is sent only to the Kirro servers (app.kirro.io):
A/B test variant changes — the CSS selectors and visual changes you make are saved to your Kirro account so they can be applied during A/B tests.
Uploaded images — if you replace an image during editing, the new image is uploaded to Kirro's storage.
This data is transmitted over HTTPS and authenticated with a short-lived editor token generated from your Kirro session.

Data storage

A temporary authentication token is stored in Chrome's session storage while the editor is active. This token expires after 24 hours and is cleared when you close Chrome. The extension does not use chrome.storage.local, localStorage, cookies, or any other persistent storage mechanism.

Permissions explained

activeTab — To interact with the page you're editing (highlight elements, preview changes).
sidePanel — To show the editing controls in Chrome's side panel.
scripting — To inject the element selection script into the page being edited.
storage — To temporarily store the editor session token while editing.
all_urls — To edit any customer website (A/B tests can run on any URL). This permission is required because Kirro customers can create A/B tests for any website they own.

Third-party services

The extension communicates only with Kirro servers (app.kirro.io). It does not communicate with any other third-party service.

Children's privacy

The extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
